It’s that time again for fandoms. The second installment of The Divergent Series hit theaters on March 20th, and of course I was there for opening night. Insurgent  is the second book in the series by Veronica Roth. If you are thinking about going to see Insurgent, make sure that you have at least watched or read Divergent first. You would be completely lost if you watched it without having knowledge of what happened in the first book/movie. If you have not seen Divergent, don’t worry! It is only ten dollars at Wal-Mart, and is currently in Redbox while Insurgent is in theaters.

Insurgent follows Beatrice Prior as she tries to save her futuristic society from being destroyed by a devious ruler. The movie is a really good adaptation of the book, and it follows the book as well as Divergent follows its’ book. The movie is an action packed adventure with a little taste of love. What’s a movie without a little love? Insurgent also has amazing special effects. You can just imagine how awesome the special effects are just by looking at the movie poster or trailer. I can’t forget to mention that you can watch the movie in 3D or 2D. I personally suggest the 3D, because it honestly makes the movie world come to life.

The actors in the film do a wonderful job. Shailene Woodley is very convincing as Tris Prior. You can truly feel every emotion that she goes through. In my opinion, Tris’s love interest, Four, does an even better job. He is played by Theo James. Together, they have amazing chemistry. Kate Winslett also does a fabulous job at portraying Tris’s arch-nemesis, Jeanine. Overall, all of the actors did a great job, especially when some of the characters went through personality changes. The movie has a couple of surprises, and some of the characters in the film might even have a change of heart in what they believe; one possibly for the best and one possibly for the worst.

This film was truly a good one, and it is definitely worth watching in theaters.
